Kente is an african fabric from Ghana woven by the Akan-Ashanti-Asante people since the 12th century. It is a royal fabric, and the local nobilities wear it draped like roman toga, for ceremonies.
A kente is composed of multicolored strips of cotton or silk interwoven on a traditional loom. The strips are then sewn side by side. The patterns and colors have peculiar meanings.
Africouleur sells large ghanean kente that you can use for example as rugs, to make curtains or pillows.
